Welcome to the EgA e.V. website

Welcome Refugees!
We live in one world and we are all connected. This becomes clear again and again when people knock on our door. People from very different cultures. Our school project helps to bring cultures together and get to know people.
Children ask children
Nobody wants to leave their homeland, but everyone wants a peaceful, fulfilling life. And each of us can contribute in our own way. Our video letters, which we produce together with students, build bridges – ask, answer, watch, listen and understand.

Sharing Experience
Learning from each other and growing together. That was the motto for Christine, Philip, Godfrey and the entire teaching staff, who worked together on a concept for the use of computers and independent learning.

Much has already been achieved
For four weeks, Christine Grundschulleiterin from Göttingen, with the support of SES, got a lot of things off the ground for us in Ggaba.

with pupils from Year 7.

We were finally able to chat directly with our partner school in Groß Schneen. A complete success for both sides. Everyone in and around our Ggaba School was delighted with the visit.
Thank you Christine!
News from our project: children ask children
In 2025, we were able to sponsor a full school year for 15 children. This was also thanks to the tremendous support of the Carl-Friedrich-Gauß-Schule Gross Schneen, which organised its Martinssingen event again this year to support the Ggaba School in Kampala. Many thanks and warm regards from the children.

Children asking children questions and learning from each other was once again a central theme in 2025.
It was about funny topics and role-playing games.

To conduct research on the internet using reputable platforms such as Wikipedia and exercising the necessary caution when using AI search engines. Other major topics included climate change, energy transition, reunification and migration.

But of course, it was also about Christmas. How you celebrate, how we celebrate. Together, we look forward to many wonderful encounters in the coming year.

In 2024, Wolfgang von EgA once again collected numerous questions in class and answered many of them with short films from Germany.

The role of Otto von Bismarck in Uganda’s borders was also discussed in detail.
Education remains important
We were also able to provide three new orphans with free school attendance and school meals. This was made possible not least by the generous donations from the St. Martin’s Singing at the Carl Friedrich Gauß School in Groß Schneen. Thank you for that.

Water is life!
Around 3500 liters of rainwater are collected from the roof of the new computer room. This means we can finally water our school garden and the new school yard plants with free rainwater.
The garden is growing
Not least thanks to a planting campaign with the support of our dolls Marie and horse Henri.

The focus was on crafting and playing

What Leonardo da Vinci had to do with the catapult was then researched on the Internet. Thanks to Wi-Fi at the school.

Climate change also noticeable in Uganda
Lake Victoria has been overflowing its banks for over a year. People have to live with it because they can only live cheaply here in the swampland of Kampala.

Orphan Irene is one of them. We were able to include her in our support program and thus take a huge burden off her mother.

School space has become a showcase project
Hello dear school supporters of the Ggaba School in Kampala.
Philip the director just sent me these beautiful pictures. All new PCs are running and the bright school room has become a showcase project.
The Rotarys donated the biggest chunk, but thanks to many small donations and donations from both large and small groups, disadvantaged children can now enjoy modern schooling. A great success.
Thank you very much!
